The Weather, Ocean and More!

   Greetings!

Sorry to keep you all waiting, too much fun, So little time. We are having a blast! Here on the Outer Banks!
We’ve had a blast the last few days, going to the beach, heading out to the sandbar, getting nice tans! :D

There aren’t as many beach pictures cause we were having so much fun.

On a hill in the Sand, with a Cross. The Umbrellas were my touch.

Now these last few days have been awesome, yesterday I was digging a hole in the sand and I found two of those shells you put up to your ear and hear the ocean through. I’ve always wondered how those things work… And then today I found some cool driftwood, that clams and other things of similar nature. :) And then later on that day I found a starfish!!!!!!!! :D I was so excited and happy and excited at the same time as well as being excited as you may well tell! :D Here is a picture of the finds, bassy found the other starfish but his one is dead. Mine is the red one, it doesn’t look to pleasant up close though.

Here is the Treasure.

The sunset was really nice, we took full advantage of it while it lasted, here are some pictures I took at the end of the sunset.

Bonna and I also have been collecting a bunch of little clams in the sand, they are really beautiful, very colourful, yellow, blue, orange, purple and variety of colours combined.

Did you know my spell checker was saying Colour is spelt wrong? so  told it no it is not wrong and then it said “oh sorry, my bad” And I forgive it because it does a good job unless I spell words like Honour, Behaviour, Clamour, Humour, etc… Crazy spell checkers… hahaha

I have been studying XAML in my spare time, well I don’t have any spare time, so I will rephrase… I have been studying XAML in my not so spare time. :) It is… different, as is any other language, but different structure and everything, I was thinking I could just jump in and learn it very fast, but it wasn’t to be. I am learning quite a bit in a short time though, I’ve mastered lots of the basics so far and can create some nice layouts and what not.

I came up with a saying today, maybe some other person already made it up but here it is.

“Without Love there would be nothing
– G. Hounsome”

Well it has been a great trip so far and it will only continue to get better! :) We are hoping to go to Ocracoke sometime soon, we will see.

Well Until next time…

God Bless!!

The Weather and the Cottage

Well The last few days have been very crazy, the wind has been really intense, the surf looked like a huge leviathan in death throes that is how rough the water was that would be two days ago. Yesterday the water was a little bit less rough but the rip currents were still too strong to go swimming.

In case you don’t know what a rip current is here is a little summary:
A rip current is a strong, narrow current of surface water that flows seaward through the surf into deeper water. Waves approaching the shoreline create a water buildup which results in a return flow. This return flow (rip current) transports the excess water into deeper waters. Never swim against a rip current, people die all the time from exhaustion from trying to swim against it. The best way to get out of a rip current is to swim sideways to is and once you are out of the pull start swimming towards shore.

From my window now I an look out and see the ocean, it looks really beautiful out right now, next to no wind and the sun is out!

2 nights ago the wind was really strong, I was trying to go to sleep and I could feel the cottage swaying to the wind, and when a big gust of wind came it felt like the floor would ripple. Thankfully these cottages are built to withstand much more wind speed than that.

So when I’m stuck in the cottage I’ve been learning a new technology called Silverlight. I will do a different post for that when I have completed the project I’m working on with code samples! :D

Altoids, They are really good, I bought some chocolate coated ones, and they are like a mint, there are different kinds but I hadn’t had the chocolate coated ones yet.

Heaths, My goodness they are really amazing, they are sort of like a Skor bar except… they have roasted almonds in the an have the finest quality of English toffee in them. If you ever come down to the states you have to look for them.

There was a huge sale at a store the other day, so I bought a swimsuit, Sandals and a hat. And the cashier gave me about $12USD off the sale because I was apparently the nicest customer all day. It pays off to be nice, eh?

So it was a fantastic day at the beach today!! I was in the ocean for about half the time, about 2 hour probably, really tired now, Zack and I tried to get past the second row of breakers to go to the sandbar but it was really tough, every time you gained 10 feet a wave would come and push you back that much. I was swimming on top of a wave at the first breakers and as I was swimming on top of the wave I looked down and saw one of my siblings running in front of the wave. It is utterly amazing. we were all in the ocean at one point and a huge wave had just gone by it washed up onto the shore and there is lots of water so it started dragging back to the ocean and you could barely walk towards the shore and another huge wave came, those situations are fun if you know how to handle them, thankfully we do. We had lots of fun at the ocean today and the sun was really warm, I’m getting a nice tan. :)

So here are some pictures of storm cottage and more…IMG_0498

The next week is supposed to be very nice so I’m not sure how much time I will have to write on this blog but I will try to keep you guys updated as much as possible, there were a lot more pictures I

could have posted but I’ll save them for later, but by that time we will probably have lots more than that.

This is who we are and how we live.

Well that is all for now, my goodness it has gotten pretty long. :)

Until next time..

God bless!

The Ocean.

Greetings, I’m really starting to enjoy blogging even though this is my 4th post.

I will start off by posting that video I was saying about, I decided it was too funny not to post, and so I got a YouTube account and uploaded it. :)

Here it is:

Here is the URL: Sleep Reading

The Ocean is just amazing. It is peaceful yet at the same time it is very aggressive. It is probably the most powerful thing God has created on this earth, No man can tame it.
I was standing in the surf, waves breaking right in front of me, I was in awe of the power and beauty that the Lord has created, and yet he is unimaginably more powerful than the oceans. The waves today were very big and the rip currents were very strong and they continuously moved. Here are some pictures of the ocean:

Lot of pictures. EH? I’ll put a few pictures of the cottage on my next post this one is getting pretty long, but that is ok. Eh?

We had Tortillas for supper today, they are good eating.

Hopefully we will get some days that are calm enough to swim in the ocean. I did get entirely soaked today. Koda and I were letting the waves crash against us, trying to stay exactly where we were but it is very hard. I would say it is much more fun swimming right out into the Big Ol’ Blue going to the sand bars and what not.

Well that is all for today, I ran out of things to say. :) Hopefully I’ll have more to say on the next post.
Until then…

God Bless and Go Bless!
